I May Be Obsessed With Breakfast

I just can't help myself to a large hearty breakfast when I have the chance. I even wake up early so I can have breakfast, and if you know me you know I can be ready in five minutes if that means I can sleep longer.

Here's what I had yesterday morning

2 eggs scrambled
4 pieces of bacon
1 baby bell cheese
2 piece of toast
I Batman glass of chocolate milk

...and I could have gone for seconds on the bacon! (But who couldn't)

Happy Saturday everyone!!

Happily Back in California - not running

Hiatus much?!

Anyways, long story short I may be the only person on the planet who would rather live in California than Hawaii. However, I must say I loved going running on The Big Island. It was really humid and there was normally a pretty steady breeze, so it was almost like air conditioning (Also that crazy person who enjoys humidity)

Buttttt, I'm back in California and I'm so happy to be! Unfortunately, my knee was acting up for a while and I just lost the desire to run and after 2 weeks, it just didn't look like it was coming back. After reading a post by The Hungry Runner Girl, about how much muscle you lose after 1 week, 2 week... etc I was really demotivated to start again in such bad shape (weird how that works right?).

I have gotten back on the horse though. My boyfriend Kyle and I went hiking, to a local spot we've gone to many times in the past year, and we were just hiking the trail and I just had to take off. Only for a short sprint, but I had it. I got that desire back. Even when I get home from work and my ankles feel like they're ready to fall off, I want to run. I may not be where I was when I left off, but that passion is back. And that is something to celebrate! Also, check out the view!

What do you do when you lose the running bug?

How do you handle injuries? How do you cross train?

Running with Beks - In Photos

We mostly walked and talked, but it was some nice after-work-wind-down-time.

Every time I walk past these bars I remember how when I was little I used to run behind them while walking to main street with my family... Clearly I can no longer fit. (PS I'm wearing a shirt while running!!)

Anyone else remember sucking the honey out of these flowers? I used to do it all the time, a friends was like "oh try this" so I did. I can't wait to teach this to my niece. Fun snack!

Every where I go!

I really do live in one of the most beautiful places. I love all the pretty houses. I'm convinced that I will live in more than one of these houses in my lifetime. I'm hoping the houses in Hawaii are just as cool!

I took a photo next to this when I started kindergarten. I haven't found that photo yet, but when I do I'll show you =)

As you can see, it was a good day!

What do you love about the town you live in?

Do you go back to the place you grew up, just to remember?

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Birthday Week | Birthday Day!

I feel like on your birthday, even though it's tempting to sleep in, you have to wake up early to fully enjoy the day! My day started with a double date at breakfast. Kyle and I had breakfast with his sister (My best friend Kelsey) and her boyfriend Joe, at the place I always went to as a kid. I had my usual bacon and eggs, but it was even better since it was at Sierra House.

Then we met with friends and made the trek up to Daffodil Hill... which to our dismay was closed for the season. We parked outside anyways and we could see the hills of daffodils and the roaming peacocks, it was beautiful! And worth the drive.

Abby's first time at Munnerlyn's Ice Cream aka best ice cream in town!

I couldn't be happier having Thai Food for lunch with my friends Emilee and Abby, because whenever I visit them at Sonoma State we always have either Indian or Thai food. It's a tasty tradition!

Look what Kyle got me for my birthday, does he know me or what!!! I love it! And this way when I go running at night, cars will see me a lot better. Plus, that swish just makes me go that much faster I swear!

WINE TASTINGGGGG
I've finally found a wine I enjoy. Not just one I enjoy from a certain winery, but that I pretty much like across the board. Mascato. It's sweeter, and fruity. I'm not really a red person. And when you go wine tasting, chips and salsa taste so much better!

We finished the night with a new episode of Greys Anatomy, because Abby and I are addicted. Not a Thursday goes by with out Grey's. It's a bonding point.

Birthday Week | Yosemite

I couldn't believe how excited I got for this trip the night before, I could hardly sleep! So I stayed up a little later, and put together snacks to take. Everything got eaten by either me or my nephew.

My mom, Brother, his wife and 2 kids, and myself met at the local waffle house beforehand and had a great breakfast! Watching my nephew eat is probably one of my favorite things ever. He makes it look like so much fun!

I slept almost the entire way there, headphones in, it was some of the best sleep I've had in a while.   Call me crazy, but I love sleeping in the car because it's moving. I think I'm a prime candidate for a water bed!
My brother and I both wearing the hats I got him for Christmas from Bass Pro Shop =)
Favorite photo of the day!

Anyways after we got there, we loaded Dustin into the backpack and set out to Yosemite Falls. My niece brought her ipod (she's only 9) and took pictures of almost everything I'm sure! It was so much fun holding my little simba up to the falls and letting him have an unobstructed view! (Photos of that to come!)

Dinner was a rip off, but who am I to complain, they had gluten free pasta!!! And after the long day of hiking everywhere I had quite the appetite. I'll save you from seeing the photo, because it looked less than appealing.

The one photo I got of the falls.. my family is just too darn cute, so I was distracted =)

And yes, that was taken while we driving home... after which I promptly fell asleep.

Have you ever been to Yosemite? Where was your favorite place?

Ever forget to take photos of the place your actually there to visit?

Where do you love going on family vacations? Camping, day hikes, beach trips?

Birthday WEEK!

While I was living with my aunt in Brentwood (that awesome place I went Running in the Rain!) she introduced "birthday week" to me. She celebrates her birthday all week on her birthday week, rightfully so! I think since we can't have "birthday month/year" birthday week is completely acceptable.

Well, it's my birthday week! Last year was my 21st birthday, and I had some wine, raspberries, chocolates, and bought myself a new Redbook magazine. My friend Katelyn got me the book Forgotten God (one of the 20 books I haven't finished).

Birthday WEEK (2013)
*RUNNING WITH FRIENDS*
*Seeing the movie The Croods*
*Visiting Daffodil Hill*
*Wine Tasting*
*A night on the town*

And that's only the planned stuff, I'm pumped. I do have 4 days of work in there, but I have a feeling that wont get me down!

As for my run today, today I took the day off. But since Beks didn't run yesterday I introduced her to my treadmill. She mostly did incline work at a low speed, but it's so fun that she enjoys sweating as much as I do.

I on the other had stood next to her changing the music every five second with 90's and early 00's classics.

Yellow Light Much?

We have a breakfast date (waffles and running) for Thursday.. best birthday week ever!

Do you celebrate birthday week?

What's your favorite wine?

-personally I'd rather have chocolate milk, but I'm giving it a chance!

Where in Northern California is your favorite place to visit? I need to experience all of it before I move to Hawaii!!! (42 days, not like I'm counting...)

Running in the Rain!

First off last night Beks and I were sleepy so we only did 2 and a half miles last night, it was good and I slept really well afterwards! (I tried running with a fanny pack last night, it was great for carrying my keys and such, but I couldn't handle how it bounced and kept moving out of place)

Today I went with my family to Brentwood to see the rest of my family. We always have a big Easter and this was no exception. This is my cousin Mandy and her daughter, the littlest one of the bunch, and we all join in to hide her eggs. (She got money and almond joys!)

Even though it was sprinkling a little we went nearby to take a walk. I was hoping I could sneak in a run so I brought everything I'd need and changed right before we left.

It was beautiful! Especially with the sun peaking through the clouds.

Only problem with the clouds, is rain... Around a mile and a half for the family, (I ran ahead and then came back) it started POURING rain. The soaked in seconds kind of rain, and it was so much fun! Jogging between the trees but even under the trees we couldn't get shelter, then giving up because once your soaked there's not much that you can do. It's my favorite moment from today, hands down.

Do you have a running bag? Where do you put your keys/phone?

What's your favorite Easter tradition?
